Congratulations Tim Langen

18.06.2015

[Schmiedmayer Group] The quantum physicist Dr. Tim Langen was awarded a QEOD Thesis Prize of the European Physical Society and a Springer Theses Award for his dissertation at the Atominstitut/TU Wien.

Tim Langen is currently a Feodor Lynen postdoctoral fellow at JILA, Boulder. His research interests include atomic and molecular physics, quantum optics and quantum many-body systems. He graduated as a PhD from TU Vienna in 2013, where he was a CoQuS PhD fellow at the Atominstitut and the Vienna Center for Quantum Science and Technology. During his PhD he has also been a visiting researcher at École Normale Supérieure in Paris. His thesis work on the non-equilibrium dynamics of one-dimensional Bose gases yielded important insights into the relationship between microscopic quantum dynamics and thermalization in statistical physics. As an undergraduate he studied physics in Mainz and Marseille and obtained his diploma from Johannes Gutenberg-University in Mainz.
