[Rauschenbeutel Group] The research group "Applied Quantum Physics" works with glass fibers having a diameter smaller than the wavelength of the guided light. The special properties of these glass fibers make them suitable for using them as a “quantum laboratory". Here is a video of their research.

At the Institute of Atomic and Subatomic Particles of the Vienna University of Technology a team around Prof. Arno Rauschenbeutel utilizes the properties of ultra-thin glas fibers. These find applications in research areas such as atom trapping and quantum communication.
